The Brea Olinda Unified School District (BOUSD) appointed William “Joey” Davis and Hillary Herrington to serve as the new assistant principals of Brea Olinda High School during the April 18, 2024, Board of Education meeting. They will begin in their new roles on July 1.

Together, we are excited to embark on a journey of inspiration, innovation, and inclusivity, shaping futures and fostering excellence,” said Superintendent Brinda Leon.
William “Joey” Davis arrives at BOUSD after serving as principal of El Dorado High School in the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District for nearly eight years. Prior to his role as a principal he served as the director of Assessment and Accountability and as an assistant principal at Valencia High School. Within these roles his major responsibilities included the effective facilitation of STAR and Advanced Placement testing, a WASC accreditation self-study, and a variety of responsibilities related to operating a comprehensive high school. Additionally, Davis has taught multiple subjects throughout his teaching career, has coached varsity softball and basketball, and served as an instructional dean at Walnut High School. Davis holds a Master of Arts in Educational Technology from Azusa Pacific University and a Bachelor of Arts in History from California State University, Fullerton. Davis also said his primary and secondary education was completed within the Brea Olinda Unified School District.
Hillary Herrington is an experienced assistant principal from James A. Garfield High School and the Los Angeles Unified School District. She began her career in education in 2013 as a sixth grade teacher of English, history, and electives at Hollenbeck Middle School. She taught for several years before acquiring a position as the Title I coordinator at James A. Garfield High School where she organized and led Title I, English Learners and Intervention program staff development for teachers, and coordinated a variety of activities for district families and the community. In 2021, Herrington was appointed as the assistant principal for Garfield High School and has led multiple initiatives in this leadership role, including decreasing chronic absenteeism rates, mobilizing the school community to obtain a California Distinguished School recognition and promoting shared responsibility among teachers and staff around mental health awareness and universal attendance prevention efforts. Herrington holds a Bachelor of Science in Child and Adolescent Studies from California State University, Fullerton and two Masters of Education degrees in Curriculum and Instruction and School Leadership.
Davis and Herrington will officially start July 1 in preparation for the 2024-25 school year.
